Michelle’s interest in social work and the juvenile justice system developed at a very young age. Through life experiences Michelle realized she was passionate and effective when it came to guiding and helping others. Michelle studied Psychology at Saint Joseph’s College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in May 2012. During that time, she interned in the gang unit at the Yaphank probation department and knew she had found the population she wanted to work with. Michelle attended Adelphi University and graduated with her Master’s degree in Social work in May 2015. She became a licensed in social work in June 2016.
Michelle joined the S.T.R.O.N.G. family in July 2013. Michelle has had various roles working with the youth and families in the school based Chapter Program in Uniondale including being our Chapter Program Coordinator during the 2015-16 school year. As coordinator she played an active role in supporting the Chapter staff in creating and executing a successful violence prevention activities. Michelle also collaborates with a variety of partners to enhance the experiences of the youth at S.T.R.O.N.G., skills she will clearly bring into her new role of Youth and Family Engagement Specialists. Michelle also co-facilitates Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS) groups for youth experiencing chronic stress.
Michelle is passionate about fitness and health, she loves her dogs, travels as often as possible and loves the summer and sunshine more than anything in the world.
