Intervention Case Manager, STRONG University
“Work for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express, not to impress.” - Unknown
Sharelle is a native Long Islander who grew up in the Roosevelt community. Experiencing the devastating effects of poverty, lack of quality education and all the other symptoms of a broken community, she knew her purpose in life is to bring healing to those who share a similar story. Sharelle is a fervent supporter of uplifting youth in underserved communities, especially since her background mimics the childhood experiences of those she supports.
Although she comes from a community that lacked the resources needed for youth and families to thrive, Sharelle expanded her knowledge and utilized her athletic abilities to expose her to better opportunities. She received a graduate certificate in Labor Studies from CUNY Murphy Institute in New York City and a Bachelors in Liberal Arts with a concentration in African American History and Urban Geography from Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn.
Sharelle started with S.T.R.O.N.G in 2013 as a volunteer and currently holds the Intervention Case Manager position for the University program. In this position, she connects youth and families to resources addressing their most pressing needs.
In addition to her work at S.T.R.O.N.G., Sharelle is a 200-HR certified yoga instructor, Doula-in-training, mother of two "suns" and social justice advocate. Sharelle prides herself on being able to hold space for our youth and families to heal so that communities experience what it means to be uplifted.
